Text Box: About Us

Text Box: Where Proper Dance Technique is Stressed
Studio J teaches an array of disciplines; Cecchetti Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop and Pilates.    Ballet being the foundation of our studios, students learn proper technique which becomes the foundation for all other forms of dance.   Jennifer Kups is dedicated  to providing  you and your family the best  education in the studies of dance possible. We offer classes for children from age three through adult.  The studios are also members of the Cecchetti Council of America.
Cecchetti Method
The Cecchetti Council of America is an organization dedicated to maintaining the standards and method of ballet training established by Cav. Enrico  Cecchetti.  The  organization uses his teaching and writings in a sequence of grades, carefully measured as to degree of difficulty and physical development, and provides a system of accredited examinations to test the students proficiency within those grades.   Studio candidates eligible for this method are selected by the Studio J's director,  Jennifer Kups.
Early Childhood Program
Our goal is to design classes that develop proper technique in each area of dance as well as provide students the opportunity to acquire an appreciation for the art of dance in an enjoyable atmosphere. Studio J offers a variety of classes to fit the needs of every dancer.  Our early childhood program begins by introducing children between 3 and 9 years of age to a strong foundation in dance and movement.  Classes are grouped into age-specific levels which meet once a week and last either 45 to 90 minutes, depending on their age.  They will learn to enhance their locomotive, balancing, rhythmic, imagination, creative awareness and coordination skills through movement and music as well as through choreography.  They will also be introduced to concepts such as proper ballet technique, classroom behavior and proper classroom etiquette.  Students will develop creative expression in a fun and exciting atmosphere.
Open Classes
Open Jazz or Hip Hop are great classes for students that have grown an interest in dance at a later age, but do not have any dance experience.  The ages in these classes start at 11 yrs and go up from there
Professional Program
Students Beginning at age 9 must be recommended in to our professional instruction in Classical Ballet, Pointe (offered only to students who have passed their Grade I and physically ready), Tap, Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop.  Students at this level are encouraged to develop their imagination as well as their minds and bodies through dance which will carry throughout their lives.  All students are placed in classes appropriate to their age as well as skill level.  We strongly urge all of our students to be well-rounded dancers and to participate in more than one discipline, with ballet as the foundation.
Performance Opportunities
Our students perform in a final production every year.  We run a professional, fast paced  gala performance every other year, with full costume and full scenery.  On the off year we have a showcase that the students perform on the same stage with the same caliber of dances, but without the glitz and expense of the costumes.  Throughout the year the students have the opportunity to perform at the Cavs games, and other local events in the community.  We also do a special performance  for  the Menorah Park Retirement home.  Students who are accepted to participate on the dance teams have an opportunity to perform at various competitions over the course of the year.
